Bobby Evers never takes himself—or the world—too seriously. Death and Ham: Life is a Real Trip offers twenty-three new essays that weave together the funny and tender aspects of life, death, and the world around him. The flair for storytelling that Evers premiered in his first book (Shoes and Cheese: The Boonetown Chronicles) is alive and well in this follow-up that travels beyond Boonetown, a journey full of interesting people and heart-felt discoveries. He even lets the reader glimpse his own apprehensions about turning sixty—while also revealing that he’s not too worried about not being the most tech-savvy one at the office. Meet some of his favorite people, and some of the most outlandish people he’s ever met. Death and Ham is a fun, wacky, sometimes-nostalgic journey that may leave you a little wistful for the past, and will surely lend you some laughs for your days ahead.
will make you giggle... So entertaining. Each chapter/essay is a story in and of itself. Bobby Evers will touch your heart and with his humorous memories, will evoke memories of your ownDeath and Ham is full of humor and quite easy to read. Light reading at its best.
Death and Ham I enjoyed reading this book because of the author’s style and humor. I look forward to reading his next book that is coming soon.
..a folksy and autobiographical way of storytelling. As a retired College professor, I tend to look at reading material with a different eye than some. This book however, and rightfully so, can not be looked at as if it is a carefully worded research paper! Once I dropped that perspective from my psyche, it became one of the most entertaining forms of reading I've done in a long time. I started and finished it while on the beach during a recent vacation to South Florida.....and what a perfect read for such an occasion! Not only were there touching moments (like the memoriam to Aunt Nell in the chapter "Quality Time"), there are other obvious personal reflections in the book. But mostly, it is just downright funny. Each and every chapter reads as if you were there experiencing many of these wild and crazy events first hand! Bobby is to be commended on putting this collection of true life stories together in such an enjoyable and entertaining fashion.Lester M
What a funny, amusing book… Enjoyed it thoroughly. Lots of laughs!
Another fantastic read by Bobby Evers After reading Evers’ first book - Shoes and Cheese - I was ecstatic to learn of a second book, and it did not disappoint. Each chapter is a standalone short story, but I never wanted to stop reading at the conclusion of a chapter. Stories are hilarious, but I really enjoyed the nostalgia contained in this book just as much. Really hoping Death and Ham will become the second book of a trilogy…
Writing from the Heart Bobby Evers has a way with words. He speaks straight from his heart and doesn't hold back! I love it. This book is hard to put down because you just have to know what he's going to say next. After reading it, I feel like I need to take ham to the families of deceased friends. Who wouldn't like that? Thanks, Bobby, for another great book!
Everyday scenarios /encounters that all can relate to. The stories are so true to life in so many facets and enhanced with humorous details as only Bobby can describe.
Real life stories that touch all our lives A great read! Short stories—each chapter stands alone one can read a few at a time. But the book is so well-written you’ll want to finish in one read! These stories will touch your emotions and your “funny-bone”. They can happen to any family. Bobby shares his with the reader in a entertaining way. A great read!!
Books written by Bobby Evers Absolutely love his books. I have both and looking forward to another. It is hard to find a stopping point once you start reading. And yes , it is that good!
Everything in the book is true a great story I really wasn't a person that likes to read but when i started reading around Nine o'clock at night the next thing i knew it was one in the morning. Just a fun great book to read waiting on the next one to come out.
Soul satisfying... Sat down to read just a chapter before leaving the house and let's just say...the grocery will be there tomorrow. Love his observations and insights, and the creative way he makes me see every story he's telling.

Great laughs and important lessons about quality time with loved ones. This book is a must read! Loved all the stories this book has to offer.
Must-Read Sequel This sequel to “Shoes and Cheese” was great. After getting to know the writer in the first book, you’ll love getting “chapter two” of his stories and musings on life.
So good, so good! Evers’ book about his experiences gave me the same feeling as watching a movie I loved and didn’t want to end. His nuanced writing style mixes personal reflections with hilarity —brilliantly. (Especially the chapter featuring “The Harlettes.”) An excellent read.Load more
